Hi All,
We must start with some amazing news and a humungous CONGRATULATIONS to Tracey & Chris. We have the pleasure in sharing with you all that they are expecting a little baby Cooper. First scan was done this week and they are approximately 11/12 weeks gone. Wow. Again guys we could not be happier for you just wish we could have been there sharing it all. Love you both (& bump) lots x
Sorry guys but back to rambling on about us! We've had such a hectic but brilliant week. We drove to Wanaka last week and arrived at the Betneys homestead. It was great to see them and we were totally spoilt with a real bed and a proper soak in the bath!! They whisked us away for a couple of days just north of Queenstown up to Skippers Canyon where we roughed it camping in a tent for two nights. The drive up Skippers was pretty hair raising, as there were vertical cliffs one side and vertical drops the other. But luckily we were in the capable driving hands of Simon and his mega 4x4. This road is inaccessible by rental vehicles so we were very lucky to be taken there. It was great, we did a few walks around this beautiful area, we had a go at a spot of gold panning. Skippers used to be a big gold mining community in the mid 1800's but we only found a few miniscule bits of gold. Still pretty cool though, the sandflies however were not cool, they were a bloody nuisance!! We both look like we've got the pox!! We drove back to Wanaka on Monday and decided to stay another day as we loved it so much. The Betneys were great hosts and we loved every minute of being with them, great fun.
We left Wanaka and travelled to Queenstown. Before we got there we stopped off at the Kawarau Bridge bungy site to see some mad lunatics throw themselves of the bridge. After a hell of a lot of humming and harring we decided to go for it. 43m high over the river below, we got strapped up and flung ourselves off!! (Pictures and proof to follow!) It was just absolutely amazing and such a buzz!! With the adrenalin still in our veins we decided to book ourselves a trip on the Shotover Jet boat the following day. After we calmed a tad we drove to Queenstown. We both loved this place a lot, and is definately one of (if not is) our favourite places. The shotover jet boat was wicked as well, 360 degree spins, soaked in water and a fear of death, we loved it!! (Again, pictures and proof to follow!) We left Queenstown and are now in Te Anau, hopefully doing our Milford Sound trip in the next few days.
With exactly 3 weeks to go tomorrow, we are feeling a bit sad, as much as we love you all, we really dont want to leave this place!
Anyway, there is sunshine to be enjoyed, icecreams to be eaten and roads to be driven, so fare well for now.
Speak to you all later
Lots of love
Paul & Zoe
