Another unexpectedly lengthly bus journey meant we arrived in the pretty seaside town of Paraty much later than expected. We also found that the hotel had overbooked so many of the others were forced to bunk together in fours and fives.

Everyone I know who's been to Paraty has raved about it and we were really looking forward to some beach time so it came just at the right time. We spent the first evening in this little colonial town in a lovely bar where there was an acoustic band in from Chile. The town has a really chilled out vibe.

A boat trip was planned for our only full day in Paraty so thanked god that the weather held out!! We sailed out through the dozens of tiny islands on this coastline (this is where Bella and Edward went on honeymoon Twilight fans! I swear I saw their villa!!) making a few stops along the way for swimming, snorkelling and even cliff diving. It was a really wonderful day.

Just one day in this atmospheric town really isn't enough. Leaving reminds me why tours sometimes aren't the best option when travelling. I'd have gladly swapped all the time we had in Bonito for extra time here!
