What Is Happening??
Alacante - Bring on the sunshine and good times. Now this place had it all going on. As soon as we had accomadation sorted out it was off to the shop to get beer. Immeadiately, the friendliness of the locals was apparent and the smiles were welcoming. We had dinner at a nice little Spanish Reataurant (how strange), our waiter was a very old man who would not stop smiling and couldn't help but bring litre jugs of beer out to Dan and myself anytime that we looked close to finishing our last beer. I liked this man a lot.
The next day I took a stroll around the harbour and viewed the hundreds of what I like to describe as 'out of my league boats'. Alacante is more of a resort type of location and is loaded with stunning rich people and shops. After walking around the harbour and surrounding beaches I decided that it would not be that hard to climb the mountain that you see in a lot of the photos. After getting directions and an indication that it should take 30 mins, I set off. 90 mins later I conceded that I was lost. I went up the wrong side and was stopped by a 4m high wall. Eventually I found my way through a number of side streets and alleyways and after a 3 hour trek found myself at another wall, this one I took on, and won! This put me on the correct path and to the top of the mountain - well worth it.
The rest of our time in Alacante was spent relaxing, drinking beer and strolling the many streets.
