Day 14 - Thursday October 4th
Another action-packed day starting at the school and moving onto the US Bank Stadium, Mill City Museum and Stone Arch Bridge.
The first stop was made at US Bank Stadium which appears like a ship from the outside, representing the home stadium of the Minnesota Vikings. The stadium is completely enclosed with artificial turf, not only did students get to walk through the back stages, they also got to see the several VIP lounges, box seats and various other places of interest including the taking of photos on the actual pitch.
Following this a trip was made to the Stone Arch Bridge which used to be a former railroad bridge and is also the only arched bridge made of stone throughout the Mississippi River. A few photos were taking individually, in smaller groups and with the complete group.
The last step of todays journey was at the Mill City Museum which explains the growth of Minneapolis and a great contextual background to milling and other industries in Minneapolis. Students were able to spend time across a few exhibits including one in the water lab, flour mill and a freight elevator. Following this the students needed a refuel which was had at the café of the Mill City Museum which provided great burgers and salads.
The group needed to arrive back at the school in time for the end of the school day to e collected again by their host families.
Day 15 - Friday 5th October
The pep fest was attended today. Which is basically royal tour around the Cambridge-Isanti Education district. At each venue a show was put on by the school band and cheerleaders, also the cross country team who were running with the game ball from school to school for good luck. The Royal Party would be introduced at each school, do a shout out to people from each of those schools and show their appreciation. 4 schools and a retirement home were visited prior to lunch. Lunch was had either at Pizza Hut or Taco Johns. Then finally the last stop was made at Cambridge-Istanti High School were a few novel events occurred including a dance-off between the teachers and royal party in which off course the teachers won!
The opening football game of the season was had against the Buffalo Bisons in a closely contested match which at the same time one was very one sided as the Buffalo Bisons Quarter back provided some incredible passes.
Day 16 - Saturday 6th October
All staff and students spent this day with their host families.
