Day 17 Sunday October 7th San Francisco
The day started off at Fisherman's Wharf where the Columbus Day parade was in full swing. The group then took a long stroll to the museum of ice cream where they were unfortunately unable to get in as it was sold out for the whole day. The stroll took roughly 30 minutes included walking through China Town and taking a bus through to the heart of the city. The group got the chance to, however, see the gift store of the ice cream museum and also had the chance to visit a few stores. As this day included a 4am wake up, a 10am arrival at San Francisco the group made a check-in to their accommodation in order to freshen up and get ready for dinner which was had at a local restaurant in Oysters Point.
Day 18
Streets of San Francisco, first stop the Golden Gate Bridge where students took a substantiative number of photos and bough a morning tea and snacks from the café. This was followed by the historic 'Painted Ladies' and a quick detour stop, made by the lovely bus driver, at the house in Mrs Doubtfire. An afternoon tour of Alcatraz (the rock) had everyone intrigued. Students had the opportunity to explore the yard, cell, dining room and visitation areas of the toughest prison of its time! Many stories of inmates, wardens and other were shared regarding the site. One thing is for sure, nobody would like to have ended up there. Even for a tour this place had the creeps!
Dinner was eaten by the hotel.
Day 19 -
Last day in the States. Some last-minute shopping and a cable fun car ride throughout the city with some magnificent views. Later on, a seafood lunch at Pier 39 was eaten and it was a real treat. To finish the day a coach picked up the group and escorted them to the airport, waiting for the flight home. Dinner was eaten at the airport, followed by a 15-hour flight direct to Sydney.
