Today we were being picked up for a day tour at an early 7 o clock, firstly we headed up to a forest for a quick walk around but did see some absolutely huge trees! We then arrived at our main destination Cape Reigna, which is the most northerly point of New Zealand and also where the two oceans meet Tasmanian Sea and Pacific Ocean which was cool and the views from the lighthouse were impressive. After this we stopped for some lunch at a lovely little beach and had a picnic, we did try the water but its was freezing, we thought the people that went in were mad! Our next stop was the fun part, we drove down a stream to the sand dunes to do some sandboarding! I have to say it was a lot of fun, Olof carried on skidding right across the stream, but it was hard work walking up they were very steep. Next it was time to carry on down the stream to Ninety Mile Beach, now we understood why the coach was modified to go off road, it was actually quick spooky as there is nothing else around and quite a cool experience driving along the waters edge. The funniest part was seeing the tops of the cars that had got stuck, caught out by the tides! Our day wasn't over yet as on the way back we stopped at a harbour town for the nicest fish and chips I've ever had! Definitely a day out worth doing as you saw lots and learnt a lot from the driver as well and we're looking forward to the rest of the week in the Bay of Islands.
