DAY 9 - UDAIPUR
We grabbed a large breakfast at our hostel in the morning before heading down to Udaipur's large City Palace complex to visit its museum. It documented the compelling history of the Rajput Dynasty (apparently the longest serving ruling family in the world) and contained many interesting artworks and artifacts, displayed tastefully throughought the magnificent building. We had a nice lunch on the bank, again enjoying fantastic views the Lake Palace, and spent the rest of the day ambling through the city's winding streets getting a feel for the area. We noticed during this time that Udaipur seems to possess some sort of a reputation as a hub of artistic activity, with many galleries and art schools dotted around the city. More amusingly, we also noticed the number of institutions that exhibited nightly screenings of the Bond film 'Octop**** , which was partly filmed Udaipur, something that I think the locals are very proud of. We are constantly reminded of the popularity of Bond in India whenever James mentions his name, his statement consistently met by enthusiastic cries of "James Bond! James Bond!" We finally got some sleep after a pretty chilled out day in a chilled out city, and prepared for our next day which proved to be much more action-packed.
