LAOSWe were introduced to rural Laos on our way to the capital, Vientiane, passing small villages down dusty roads as we weaved our way through the mountains, making slow, but pleasant, progress. At a stop off along the way, I decided to stroll down to the riverside, where Ben pointed out to me that the boats that littered the river were fo…

VIETNAM
After crossing the border (quite a feat, it turns out), we made our way to Ho Chi Minh City, or Saigon as it is popularly known, a labyrinth of bicycles and mopeds, an urban sprawl tha…
CAMBODIA
So here we go. I'll start again where I left off - Cambodia. Prior to my travels, I knew relatively little about the country besides its dark recent past blighted by the war in Vietna…
So here I find myself, spread out on one of southern Thailand's many beautiful beaches, basking in the tranquility of the sun and sea, the calm after the storm that was the full moon party, en…
DAY 62 - BANGKOK/BORDER/SIEM REAP
And so the tour began. We departed on a mini-bus at around 7am and arrived at the border after a couple of hours or so, briskly purchasing our visas and makin…

With all that you are doing I don't know how you found time for the last two big blogs! Very interesting and much appreciated. You're not the only world traveller - we've just spent 3 days in the Pas de Calais!!
Take care - looking forward to seeing you home.

Really enjoyable post, Oli. I know you'll make the most of your remaining time - we could all do with some time on the beach.
We're all very excited about picking you up on Thursday.

Have been meaning to communicate with James to tell him how much we have enjoyed his blog and especially the brilliant photos - even the ones which do not include Grizzly Adams! Typed a note to this effect on his site but am totally unconvinced that it worked (but then I am very ancient!). Tell him please.

Note he didn't say that he actually bookmarked it! What's wrong with sounding like me? It's your Dad's favourite occupation on holiday, observing the other travellers. Am wrapped in three towels head to foot (literally) trying to muster enough energy to get dressed for a pre-dinner drink. Very interested to hear how Cambodia has developed since the war. Sounds promising!

Goodwork, Oli.We are in a nice hotel in the New Forest, Terravina, and brought the computer so we could keep up with the blogs. Just collected Adam from the local station. He had his gig night last night in Isleworth and managed to make the 12.08. Cambodia really interests me, given it's recent past. You can also now enjoy talking about other people on the tour ( God, I'm sounding like your mum ). Malcolm - thanks for the tip: I've got the blog page on "bookmarks" now.

Hi Oliie
Brill blogs up to the standard we've come to expect don't know how you are managing to keep it up but great for us at home in England.Malcolm and I have just returned from our own adventurous travels -yes you've guessed it the Canaries again where the only decisions we had to make were which bit if beach to commandeer and when to go to the bar for a drink! Hope you are feeling better.

Ollie,
I'm way behind in my reading (trying to catch up) - for me you're still in Katmandu which means I can't get the Cat Stevens song out of my head.
