I arrived in the Gold Coast around 10:30 PM, the reason I went was to visit some friends I met in Thailand. I was going to take a bus to the hotel they are staying at for the semester but the busses stopped at 10 so I had to take a taxi. The taxi dropped me off and they came downstairs to meet me. On Saturday we just hung around and they showed me around the area where they live. They live in Broadbeach, which is right next to the famous Surfers Paradise, appropriately named for how many surfers there are. On Saturday night two of the boys who were in my orientation were visiting from Brisbane so we all went out together. Sunday was one of my favourite days; we woke up early and went to the beach at Coolangatta. The bus ride was about 45 minutes; on the walk from the bus stop to the beach we stopped at the boarder of New South Wales and Queensland and took some pictures. Then we spent the rest of the day at the beach. We had an amazing view of the Surfers Paradise skyline. Two of my friends had just bought a surfboard so they were teaching me to surf. Then we played some touch football on the sand - when the boys asked me to play I told them that I don't like to lose, my team won and I caught the most touchdown passes on the team! We stayed at the beach to watch the beautiful sunset over the skyline it was beautiful. After we had all gone back to the hotel to shower a couple of us went to Waxy's, which is an Irish bar that has a special of $2.00 steaks on Sundays - they were great!
