Today is glorious. The sun is shining and there is a light breeze.
Our stomachs have recovered and food was needed asap to regain a sense of normality.
We walked along the beach to get our bearings and find breakfast. A smart hotel was offering $5 buffet breakfast; perfect! Unlimited amounts of fruit, salad, cakes, noodles, curry, soup, juices, as well as your normal breakfast items.
After breakfast we headed back up the beach to our hotel for a dip in our pool!
A close eye was kept on the weather as Typhoon Haiyan devestated the Philippines last night. The path of the typhoon is heading towards the coast of Vietnam about 200-300 miles north of us. With that in mind we decided that it would be better to stay where we are rather than head north along the coast, as we had wanted and planned.
The pool and the sea kept us occupied until the late afternoon. Siestas and showers made way to dinner time. As we left our room, a few small rain drops were felt, within 5 minutes it was a full downpour, strong winds and thunder&lightening.
We found a restaurant under cover and sat and watched the rain pour. The street was flooded and running like a river, roofs were leaking and the restaurant filled up fast with people taking shelter from the rain.
We ate fresh king prawns, scallops, rice and fries. It was damn good. Dessert was not however; an undercooked banana pancake. This is the first bad food we have had since travelling, but it didn't matter as the main course's more than made up for it!
A safe dessert was bought from the shop on the way home; 2 cornetto ice creams!
We rushed back to our room away from the rain which had now slowed. CNN was watched wide-eyed, witnessing the horrific scenes of devastation in Tacloban city and following the route of Typhoon Haiyan.
Our thoughts to everyone affected xXx
