After a 23 hour bus ride from Juarez to Mexico City, we have started to enjoy the hospitality and warmth that is Mexico. The bus ride was a little blury as well as trying to find a cheap place to stay in Mexico City. Alas, we found a cute little hotel in the Zona Rosa district. Later that night after loosing the phone card Ode just bought, the random times began (if they hadn`t already). We met two Mexican traveling musicians...went to a reggae bar, hung out at a park, and enjoyed la mota out of a seashell. Interesting experience to say the least.
The next day was Mexico`s Independence Day...drank a lot of tequila in the company of good friends (gracias mini yo y compania!). The rest of that day can be summed up in four words...zocalo, espuma, grito, presidente. We were a big family of 11 (gracias a Marco for the head count, not one person was lost to the enormous crowds or el metrobus). Later that night, Ode and I were convinced that we were not drunk, but Ode big off the end of a cigar. Not only did this prove that we were indeed intoxicated but buying cigars from el Oxxo is not the best idea. This contributed to our hangover`s the next morning as well as hearing somebody deathly puking outside our room in the middle of the night...viva Mexico! The video sums up the night`s energy. http://www.new.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=36099878676&subj=643503676
Now we have arrived in Puebla to visit Ode`s friends from her exchange program at UDLA. Thanks Sarah-Eve for the hospitality, mushroom soup and rosé. Today we are off to el mercado to buy fresh fruit and vegetables which will be delicous since we have only been eating fried carbohydrates and meat since we`ve (typical Mexican food). On Sunday we will head to Puerto Escondido after a big fiesta/reunion on Saturday!
