Composed on a very long and very wet drive last week (acknowledgements to 'Camp Grenada'!):
Hello Paul, hello Rozzy,
From the country next to Aussie
Please don't think that we're complaining,
But since we got here it hardly has stopped raining.
We went walking somewhere boggy,
Now our trainers are all soggy,
And they make the van all smelly,
And we have to stay inside without a telly.
And the campsite that is very
Close to ours has dysentery,
And that's really not tremendous,
Not surprising though, the toilets are horrendous.
Take us home Singapore Airlines,
Take us home, we hate it here.
We will not say forbidden words,
Or wear exploding underpants.
Take us home, we promise we will not make bombs,
Or mess the plane with all our stuff,
Oh please don't make us stay,
We've been here six whole days.
Hello Stephen, hello Mother,
It's been one thing after another.
If it isn't soaking towels,
It's the ongoing problems with Mary's ... hairstyle.
Hello Bobsie, hello Paul,
We don't like it here at all,
And the camping has it's drawbacks,
When you find you've parked alongside flies and railtracks.
Hello Briony, hello Robbie,
Dad got cautioned by a Bobby,
And John's plagued by insect bites
That are really, really itchy every night.
Clouds are lifting, sun is shining,
Sea is sparkling, we are smiling,
Views are stunning, gee that's better.
Everybody, kindly disregard this letter!
Definitely disregard this letter - as this week has been glorious weather. Today arrived in Te Anau and 29 degrees! Have booked into a lovely site for a couple of noghts before THE GREAT WALK! Hate to say we hope it cools down a bit before that!!
More soon. xxxx
