G'day folks!!
How are we all?
Well, I have been a busy girl since I last spoke to you all...
I went to Gwandalin last weekend and stayed with Miek and Leonie, as well as Annette, Greg, Amy, Owen and Karen to celebrate uncle Curlys 96th Birthday.
I was totally spoilt as you can imagine, lovely lunches and dinners cooked by Leonie- including baramundi!! yum!! as well as some lovely breakfasts cooked by Mike- pancakes and an english breakfast!!
On the friday it was curlys birthday and Leonie had made not one but 2 birthday cakes for him- which im sure he enjoyed!
We all took his cake down to him and it was so nice to see how well someone of his age is doing- and what a lovely lovely man!! Its hard to believe it will be his last birthday as he was really impressive!
He showed me lots of pictures and told me stories about Bee and being in the war- as I said a really really lovely man!!
On Saturday, Mike took me, Annette and the children for a drive around the area playing tour guide to do a bit of sight-seeing!! Unfortunatly for him- he trusted me with a map (a complicated one!) and we ended up going round in a circle!! he he!
On Sunday, we headed back to Maitland but not before Owen went to see Ben 10 show, which from what I can see is his hero!! Gregs family came over that evening for dinner as it was Marly's birthday (Gregs Mum) so Annette was flying around like super mum making a cake and cooking a nice dinner- which was delicious!! Gregs brother Peter also came over and had a nosey through our family tree as that is his hobby (his own one obviusly!)
On Monday I headed back to the big city, sad to leave everyone behind but feel better knowing ill be going back to see them all at Christmas which im really looking forward to!!
Since I have been back in Sydney I have been busy too. The days feel like weeks here so even though I havent even been back in Sydney a week yet feels like I never left!! Crazy how time goes! Especially as now we have daylight savings here so the clocks went forward an hour which means it stays lighter for longer- kind of like the UK- but better obviously!! he he!!
I went and met Tanya and Jonny in Newton on Tuesday which is one of the suburbs of Sydney- very nice too- full of coffee shops and boutique shops so nice to have a wander around and a coffee and stuff! So me and Tanya had a nice afternoon!! Afterwards I went back to thier lovely house (very jealous!) and we had a BBQ and sat in the garden in the sunshine all afternoon- it was all very civalized!! he he!!
The next day, I thought I would go and explore the monorail of sydney- I have seen is buzzing around but never really took much notice! But I havent been on one before so I thought ot would be a nice way of getting round Sydney and seeing it! which it was of course- and a lot quicked than walking!! I went down to Darling Harbour to do a bit of exploring and guess what I found?? A REAL pirate ship on the harbour!! so exciting!! couldnt see Jack Sparrow anywhere though??
It was parked outside of the Maritime museum which I decide to have a wander round- nice museum- tried to learn a lot but at the moment too many museums makes Jenny's brain shrink and I just cant take it all in! It was all about, boats and war and stuff anyway!! Outside they had a destoyer boay- MHAS Vampire and a submarine- parked next to the pirate ship (which I have uploaded pictures of by the way for those of you who are as exxcited as me...no one? ok then.....)
I then thought it would be a good tiem to start job hunting as I have a few weeks here to fill and not much money left!! So I had an interview for a job the other day too which was over in neutral bay- Milsons Point. This is North of Sydney which meant going over the Sydney Harbour Bridge for the first time!! whoop whoop! he he! it was nice actually! After my interview (which went well but I havent heard back from yet) I decided to look around Neutral Bay while I was there. Im glad I did as when I was on the way to the train station I saw the steps onto the harbour bridge and decided to head that way. When I got to the end of the road I had the most fantastic view of Sydney Harbour from the north side. Really awesome view- I spent ages there looking around- ill add the pics to facebook so you can see!!
I also found Neutral Bay whicj was a lovely little beach- really quiet and you could see all the way to the CBD from it. Just without the noise and the people!! Lovely little harbour!!
When I got back from my day of sight seeing I got chatting with an italian guy- Gee I call him as I cant say his whole name! Me him and a newbee staying in my room all went for a drink down and Scubar and then onto Sidebar where they had some live music so we could have a dance- that was a good night!
Good job I was in a good mood as thanks to 2 stupid woman in my dorm who thought it would be a good idea to get up at half 6 in the morning after me having a few nights of not going to bed until about 2am- well I nearly killed them!! I could see the headlines in my head 'English Backpacker goes crazy and kills everyone in her dorm'!
Agian I headed back down to circular Quay (Sydney harbour) for a wander and to watch the many people palying digereedoo and things like that. I then went to the rocks and decided to go into the Rocks museum- which, again im sure was very interesting but i think its got to the point where museums are becoming lost on me....im trying....but I cant store any more infomation!!!
So I went back to the hostel to clear my head....
At the moment im awaiting calls back from a few jobs to see if I am staying in Sydney or if I am moving on so until I hear from them- I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM DOING!!
Ill keep you all updated though!
Lots of love and big aussie hugs xxxxxxx

Daddy Hey Wanderer, isn't it strange how a lack of money crystallizes the thoughts and suddenly the need to WORK becomes important again! I am really pleased you took the time out to meet your family on the other side of the world. It must have been a little nerve racking for you as apart from mike and Leonie they would all have been strangers to you. You obviously weaved your magic and bewitched them in order to get an invite back for Christmas! You wrote: “I also found Neutral Bay which was a lovely little beach- really quiet and you could see all the way to the CBD from it” What is the CBD? Love you always Daddy xxx
Hauntie Haudrey Hi Jen, What memories your adventure is bringing back to me, the harbour, monorail and the oddballs around the quay. Have you done the boat trip across to Manley? thats an experience. Glad you found the time to visit your long lost relations knew they would make you welcome. Hope you don't come down to earth with too much of a bump when you have to start working, what sort of job are you going for? I would also like to know what CBD stands for. Thinking of you.
Jenny Come on people!! The CBD stand for Central Business District- its the main part of the city. Do I have to know everything!
Daddy Central Business District? Industrial estate would have sufficed. xxx
Jenny No Father!! A CBD is different to an industrial estate!! Go and get your dictionary.... xxx
Annette Colin, she not only bewitched but has the kids pining for her.....Amy"I really miss Jenny", Owen "Me to, I wish she was here to colour in Four Arms with me".
Angela Hi Jen, the way you feel about museums is how I feel about ampitheatres and churches. I visited soooo many in my rep days, just this holiday Dean and the extended family visited the mosaics at Paphos harbour and I left them to it and went shopping instead, much more fun! I get a shiver and think, noway!! I know where you're coming from!! Thanks for the postcard, there's something so nostalgic about them. A real treat on my doorstep! Good luck with the job hunting, Dean's got some friends that live in Sydney, I'll ask him if they can help out. I'll let you know if they can. Good luck and keep us posted. TC LOL Ange xx
