Jibbi Chappatti Fatti . . .
Getting lost three times on my solo morning run is definitely an achievement, as I somehow managed to loop together parts of previous runs, running for approx 48mins. I loved it though, refreshing, sun rising was gorgeous over the fields. Looking around myself running is just being lost in the middle of nowhere, up a mountain with just field after field and children running bare foot with me to school or for milk, different world, different priorities, different worries.
Excitement of chai is always great after a run. An interesting shower to follow, as we now have no water in our block, except the remains of scalding hot water, so I stood underneath the tap like shower splashing painful water on me trying to wash. In the end I wrapped the towel and did the towel walk of shame to the gym showers. Returning to find Angela doing the same painful shower technique I did previously with yelps.
Yoga and stretches by the pool under the shade of a tree and had an ant attack, they just seemed to be attracted to the mat. Topped up the tan and topped up the chai levels.
11.30 was pillow hurdles, which was interesting and new to me. Dinner time followed by chai, which by now maybe a surprise to you. I booked a massage for tomorrow as my left knee was starting to give me a bit jib on this mornings run, something ive been expecting and waiting to happen. The words over training spring to mind.
I decided a bit grooming wouldn't go a miss today, its been a while so I plucked my eyebrows and painted my horrendous nails from the turquoise colour to a purple. It always takes me a while to adjust to a new nail colour, I find I wiggle my fingers more and get shocks from my hands. I think my tan looks a bit better with purple nails. However, I now have lip depression, as ive been bitten on my lip by a mozzie, god damn those flying biting insect things.
At 3pm I had my private with Gav for my programme design, where we discussed what I wanted to do and achieve while at the camp. I was just explaining how with being a trainer myself I find I neglect my own programme, hence while im here. Gav did say that if I stuck to a training schedule I would be decent runner, which is what I want, I want to compete firstly in 10ks, taking it up to marathons.
At 5pm Gav does three days a week core classes for the Kenyans, as they never do core work. Its an interesting class to watch, it makes you wonder if little changes like core work in the Kenyans training schedules would improve their performance by quite a bit or not. I had drank way too much chai with angela before this core class, its not advised by me or angela to do such a thing.
Chapatti night at the inn, god they are good, so bad but so good. Its best to think when demolishing so many that all the running will burn it off, I think my ratio of chapattis to energy burnt running maybe a tad higher on the wrong side. The guys here eat so much food, for small skinny guys, I really don't understand how they don't look 6months pregnant like me after the food. Plus I don't know how they don't feel sick, I know they burn it off with their marathon training as some are running 21kms plus each day but still.
Somehow I mustered up the attention span to pay attention to a full game of whist and win, eee the pressure was on, once I was past round 4 and still in the lead I couldn't start being daft and taking ridiculous risks. After my win, I watched the end of a crap film with chris and waseli in the chill out lounge, we hadn't a clue what was happen and the rain on the roof drowning the sound didn't help.
Night time chatties with Angela then bed.xx
