Day 19, 23 July 2012, Diving from Nunghwi Beach, Zanzibar - The day dawned with a strong onshore breeze - Hardie diving weather indeed. The trip out in the boat was very rough and the first dive was average at best - lots of surge due to the roughness, bad visibility - fish, coral yada yada yada.... Saw a couple of turtles - very cute. Boat was jumping around and eventually prior to the second dive nature took its course and I was violently ill. Now scuba diving is god's way of giving sea-sick people something to do until the boat returns to dry land. So I gamely leaped in again for another very bad dive. Visibility was 2 metres at best and one of the photo-crazy types got lost. Dive guide panicked, dive deteriorated further. Finally got back onto boat and died (not particularly quietly) for the trip to shore. Had I been able to breathe or feel my fingers I would have dropped to the sand and kissed it. Too sick. Spent rest of day recuperating in bed. Burger and chips for dinner. Acrobats danced on the beach and jumped through flaming hoops. Tomorrow is another die. Sorry - day.
