Friday 13th June Valdez to Tok Up at 6am, bags out at 7am as we leave Valdez heading for the Dog Sled Capital of the World, Tok. On today's journey we passed through Keystone Canyon which is a gorge with perpendicular walls and had we saw our first black bear. Thursday 12th June Anchorage to Valdez We were up early at 6.30am and boarded our Cosmos Bus at 8.45am heading for Whittier. We passed Turnagain Arm which is a waterway into the northwestern part of the Gulf of Alaska. It is one of two narrow branches of Cook Inlet the other being Knik Arm. Wednesday 11th June Anchorage We were up at 6am this morning and walked to the Steam Dot Coffee Shack and had a decent coffee and breakfast. We continued into downtown Anchorage to the Visitors Centre where we took a shuttle bus to the Alaska Heritage Centre which is located ten miles from downtown Anchorage, and is situated on 26 wooded acres. Tuesday 10th June Anchorage It was raining heavily again this morning. We packed our day packs and our rain gear and walked down to Ship Creek to see the Salmon coming in. There were plenty of local fishermen, but no salmon. We walked to the Eisenhower Alaska Statehood Memorial Monument which overlooks Ship Creek and the Alaska Railway Yards.
