Tuesday 17th June Dawson Up at 8.45am visiting the Klondike Historical Gold Rush area in Dawson. First stop was the Discovery Claim which was the birthplace of the Klondike Gold Rush. There is a plaque bolted to a large boulder honouring the mining claim. Nearby, in the trees, are hiking trails leading to Bonanza Creek. Monday 16th June Whitehorse to Dawson Up at 8am and departed at 8.45am. Driving along, Les put on the famous "The Cremation of Sam McGee" by poet Robert Service. It concerns the cremation of a prospector who freezes to death near Lake Laberge, Yukon as told by the man who cremates him. Saturday 14th June Tok to Whitehorse We had a 6.45pm departure this morning heading for Whitehorse. Our first stop was the America/Canadian border. We had lots of fun posing for photos with one foot in the USA and the other in Canada. We continued to travel along the Alaska Highway and follow along the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge.
