We really had no clear vision of where we would camp after the Barossa so we just followed our nose and decided to cross the river at Morgan, from the south to the north bank. Another free vehicular ferry service.
We drove for some time until, after looking at several roads that didn't lead anywhere, we finally found a sign to Heron Bend, which I had seen in a publication somewhere!
This turned out to be quite a find and Heron Bend became home for two days, while Bill fished the Murray River (and caught) and I walked and lazed around a bit doing nothing. The weather was perfect. The nights were very cool, the mornings clear, the days warm and sunny with dusk being a warm pink/orange. Just beautiful!
Bill caught quite a few small yellow belly, and returned them to the river. Also quite a few carp - not returned of course. A couple of nice yellow bellies were kept and I had the most beautiful steamed fish served by Chef Bill.
Can't beat the delicate flavor of this fish. Magic!
