Hi!
After the last time I wrote, Me, Holly and Siobhan went out for some drinks and ended up getting pretty drunk because the bar guy was so friendly and getting us to try local drinks for free. Then there was a free salsa lesson in the bar so we joined in for that but there was only the teacher, a smelly Maori guy and a really old English guy! It was good fun though and then we were ready to party for the rest of the night. We were in a much better party mood than the other group who had paid $70 for a dinner and dancey thing!
We were really drunk that night and then had to be up pretty earlt the next day to move onto Waitomo where the caves are. Holly had to drag me up and we were really hungover for the rest of the day! We did the black water rafting yesterday which was the most terrifying thing I have ever done. We had to wear full wet suits and climb down underground into these caves with deep water in them and then float around on these tubes and climb through horrible pitch black tunnels and there were eels in the water. At one point we had to jump backwards off a waterfall into our tubes! It was awful, me and Holly just spent the whole time saying how awful it was because we just had tiny lamps on our heads so we couldn;t really see and then they kept on making us turn them off!
After that trauma, we had a big group bbq at the hostel. The rooms were in little chalets which was very fancy and there weren;t any bunk beds for the first time in months so we all loved it. After the bbq we went over to the local pub and Jessie Spencer was in there (he used to play Billy Kennedy in Neighbours and is now some big hollywood actor) so we were hanging out with him all night and playing pool. It was really weird because we were literally staying in the middle of nowhere and that was the only pub around for about 30miles!
Today we have just been totally knackered and tryin gto sleep at every opportunity! As soon as we arrived in Taupo we went to bed for a bit and now we have been dragged up by two 18year english boys who are really posh boarding school types but they are really funny! I was supposed to be skydiving today but it is too windy so we have to do it tomorrow instead. I'm going to do the 15,000ft jump which is going to be really scray but I can;t wait.
As its windy today it feels freezing and I'm soo wimpy in the cold now that I can;t handle it at all. I'm having to wear tons of layers but its probably still about 15degrees, I don;t know how I will hnadle it when I get back!
Theres a grand prix in the town we're staying in this weekend so it's really busy which is good because normally its totally dead like all the towns in New Zealand. I don't know how the people who live here can handle it because we get bored of a place after a few hours so we're quite happy to be moving on everyday even though we have to wake up at stupid times!
Thats all for now. Speak soon xxx
