Hey!
Having a great time on the Kiwi Experience. It is such a good idea. We basically all load on early in the morning and travel for a few hours then they will take us on some free walk or to a beach or something. Today we went into the old gold mining caves which was pitch black so we had to keep taking photos of the floor to see where we were going!
They hand around sheets as we travel for all the activities available when we get to the final destination and you just sign up for them there. They also do that for the accommodation so we can all stay in the same place.
I got stuck next to the most annoying Canadian girl when I first got on the coach but now I am always with Holly who is from Kent. We are on the same tour so should be together for the whole thing as long as I don;t choose to stay somewhere for an extra day. Everyday we move on to a new place so we have to be ont he bust at 7:30am most days which sucks! We were all asleep at 10pm last night because we were so tired.
We went to see a really nice beach yesterday but unfortunatelky we had to do a 30min hike to get to it. Then afterwards we stayed in a lovely little hostel in a tiny little town called Mercury Bay. The hostel was just like staying in somebodies house and they cooked us all spag bol which was really good.
Tonight we're staying in Rotorua (?) in a bigger hostel which isn;t very nice. A lot of the group are going on a Maori tribe dinner and show thing tonight but its really expensive so theres a group of us going out on the town instead. Its quite lucky that everyone else seems to be on a tight budget too so we'll be cooking most meals to save money for the activites.
Today me and Holly did zorbing which is when you go down a huge hill in a massive inflatible hamster ball. They also throw loads of water in it too just to make sure that you slip all over the place. It was so much fun, we screamed non stop the whole way down!
I've been trying to pick only a few activites to do but so far my list is black water rafting (when you go through caves in a rubber ring looking at glow worms), parachute jump, bungeejump, swimming with dolphins, shark diving and a glacier trek! All of that come to about 400pounds though so its really cheap compare to England. There is millions more stuff to do here too though so its hard to turn stuff down!
New Zealand is a brilliant country, when your on the bus the scenery totally changes every 30mins so it'll be huge mountains, then a rainforest and then massive lakes. When we stopped for lunch today it was a town near where they filmed the lord of the rings so we had pictures taken with all the geeky signs and stuff. The town uses it so much to make money becuase the shps are called things like the Hobbits internet cafe and Bilbo's bakery!
Thats all I have to say for now, just going to the pool for abit now because its boiling. The sun is much stronger here than in OZ apparantly because there is absolutely no ozone layer so I keep getting burnt :-(
Much love xx
