We were both happy to sleep somewhere a bit warmer and to have a shower in the morning (Wed 4th) :-) We decided to have a relaxing day so didn't do that much; neither of us was up to much walking with our injuries either so we had a wander around town, enjoyed the sunshine and made ourselves a salad for lunch. In the evening we ate at a nice restaurant I had eaten at last time. The next morning Anna did a half day tour of some of the sights near Tupiza (a shorter version of the tour I did last time) which she enjoyed and then we had lunch before heading to the border to cross into Argentina. We got the transfer transport to the border town Villazon (1 hr 15 mins) then walked to border. Once at the bus station in La Quiaca we managed to get straight on a bus heading to our first stop Humahuaca. We went to a hostel then straight out for dinner as it was after 9pm. We had a nice meal with typical dishes, mine was something with quinoa and Anna had cazuela de llama. Our room had heating (very unusual) and it was nice and cosy :-) The next day (Fri 6th) we decided we would wander around the town and move on to somewhere new in the afternoon. After walking around town, seeing the figure Saint Francisco emerging from the clock tower at midday, we walked up to las Peñas Blancas to a lookout point to get a nice view of the town. As we didn't have much time we did a short stop in Tilcara on the way to Purmamarca so that Anna could visit the ruins of the Pucara but we travelled through the Quebrada in daylight so Anna could see the lovely scenery. We stayed the same place as I had stayed in last time in Purmamarca and had dinner in the restaurant. They had live folkloric music and we enjoyed listening to that but only watched about half of it- earlyish nights were needed as Anna was full of a cold and I seemed to be starting to get one too. The next morning we walked through the cerro de los siete colores- the mountain of seven colours. It was as beautiful as I remembered and a nice bright sunny day. We were then on the move again to our next destination, Cafayte, which is about 4 hours south of Salta, meaning a total of 8 hours on buses but it was nice to arrive and know we would be spending a few days on one place!
