So the last 24hours have been pretty crazy! My last month in auz was brilliant! I started to feel like I really belonged there, I loved my job and I loved living with sue and family.
But the time had come for me to leave so I hoped on the bus to the airport.
So ladies and gentlemen I would like to introduce you to the first two events in a serious of Nina's unfortunate events; the evening of the 20th I merrily got on the bus to the airport, checked my timetable, international airport first, get off, lots of business looking people around me, go and ask someone...turns out I'm at the domestic airport and I had read the bus timetable the wrong way! So a train ride later and I got to the international airport! Also event two, just thought I would double check that the airport that I am flying into is the same as the domestic airport (the recent event has obviously taught me a lesson) turns out they are different, so after a quick google I found buses and taxi prices to take me between the two! So finally I made it to Chiang Mai (surprising I know!)
I witnessed a few funny sights...when I was q-ing up to check in for my second flight I witnessed a women walking around with her baby hanging off of her boob, now I know that babies get hungry and have to be fed but in the middle of the airport whilst she is checking in did not really seem like them best place to me! But each to their own! The first thing I have noticed since being here is the crazy electrics. Dad you have taught me to observe well, there are wires and cables hanging from everywhere!
Everyone is super friendly and I feel safer that than I thought. I walked down the road and within 20 metres a girl had started talking to me and we went for breakfast together! This place is pretty different, I have found the smells the most obvious. Just walking down one road leads you into smelling many different scents. It is calmer than I thought. The cars are funny, there are small tuk tuks, little red vans, cars, mopeds, mopeds and more mopeds. Everyone seems aware of each other and the pedestrians.
It's funny because one minute I am surrounded by people and the next I am alone in a backstreet somewhere. Exciting!
This afternoon I had a Thai massage for £2.80!! I have never been put into so many odd positions, and I mean never! I got flung one way and then got flung the other, I had a little Thai women running all over my back! One minute her feet were on my bum and her hands were in my back, the next minute my head and back are being pulled up to the ceiling. Why I put myself through this you may ask, because someone once told me that it did you good....now anyone that knows me knows that I will buy into anything that will make me healthy!
This evening I went to the night market with a girl whom I am sharing a room with called Bea. It was crazy! I have never seen so many opportunities to shop in one place! I had pork and rice for my dinner which was delicious and cost me £1!! It is a vibrant place but has a certain calmness to it. On the way to the market there were many pretty Thai ladies sitting outside of the bars, and on the way back from the market these ladies were drapped over older men! They looked fairly pleased with themselves, yuck! I was fairly impressed with my bartering skills at the market, my mother has certainly taught me well!
