Sun 18 August:
Last night I fell asleep at around 10pm, definitely still jet-lagged! I woke up so many times in the night thinking "I need to get up and talk to everyone at home, it's already 9am there!" :-(
I feel less emotional today as I have the past couple of days, it's still there but if I keep busy and stay in touch with my loved ones then I'm hoping it will be easier.
So today Anne and Katya left the apartment I'm looking after to move into their own place with Sam, so she spent the morning showing me the ropes. Taking me to the lauderette and showing me the local supermarket which has EVERYTHING in it... Supermarkets in the UK are rubbish, sorry - BAD!
I got back to the apartment and thought I'd spend the day in... then realised that I'm in New York and that would just be stupid! So I grabbed my unlimited metrocard and got off my butt! I got the subway to Union Square, where a guy was walking around giving people free hugs, I got 2 and a picture, so gave him a dollar. I walked less than a block to Little Italy Pizza, and got 2 slices of cheese and tomato and a big drink of Coca Cola for $5. I couldn't say no...
I sat in Union Square Park eating the pizza then went for a wander, which ended up being an hour and a half long of me getting lost but bumping into really cool things. I walked through Union Square Park and saw a little market, signed up to win an I-pad, promising I'll be there at 5pm, I then walked to Madison Square Park, along the way seeing loads of street performers.
On my journey back when I realised that each block was getting quieter and quieter I accidentally realised that I was right infront of the Flatiron Building, as you do!
I never did get there to find out if I won an Ipad :-(
There was a lot of recordings going on, looked like some sort of TV programme, not sure but everyone was going pretty crazy about it all, so I grabbed a few pictures too lol.
There was some notice for no parking due to a TV recording on Thursday, if I can remember where that is I wanna go and watch! :-D
On my way back down Union Square subway a woman had a sign saying 'legalize prostitution' and was shouting "w****s are people too", so weird lol.
So what was supposed to be a quick journey to Union Square for a slice of pizza turned out to be me getting lost somewhere around Broadway, but I don't mind, let's face it, it doesn't happen every day for me :-)
When I was walking around Manhattan I found every little thing awesome, and then realised that I won't have anyone to share any of these moments with, that made me sad :-( lol.
I've spent the evening just sorting out a blog and getting my pictures on Facebook, but i'm feeling shattered now as it's 12am here, 5am in the UK :-O no wonder i'm tired.. night all :-) xxx
Money spent: $11.40. $1 photo, $1 sweet, $5.40 pizza and drinks, $2 6 pack noodles, $3 souvenirs
