Well.....me and jo had 2 days lef in lima and had done everything that we wanted to do in the city so we decided to do a days trip dwon to paracas, islas ballestas and the nazca lines. So our pick-up was at 4am!!!!! We left lima and i got in the car and went straight back to sleep and we arrived in paracas at 7.30. Our boat left at 8am and already from the quay we saw pelicans and some dolphins too!! On the way out to islas ballestas we saw the candalabra in the rock which apparently is q famous. At the islas we were inundated with so many birds flying around us me and jo were sensible and brought our rain coats and put the hoods up as not to get pooed on! We saw hundreds upon hundreds of seal lions, penguins (which were my favorite as so cute!!), coromandals and loads of pther birds. At one ppoint the birds had spotted a school of fish in the distance so dived off in their hundreds into the water - the boat drove up next to it so we could see all these birds diving for thier food! There was another tour on our boat - a quoni whose leader treated her guests as if they were in kindergarten!! She was so patronising so me and jo couldnt help but laugh like school girls when she got shat on!! Now i know this is suppsed to be good luck for her but i dont care as it was still very funny for me! The wildlife was amazing and made up for the fact that we saw q little in the jungle. After the boat we drove another 4 hours to get to nazca to see the famous nazca lines. These lines form shapes and patterns ie of a hummingbird, a space man, a flower, a monkey, a spider etc and you can see then from the sky. They were made by the nazcans but there is no idea why they are there - one of the reasons that they have survived hundreds of years is that nazca is in the desert and it hasnt rained there since the ice age! So we went up in lil 6/4 seater planes to see these wonderful drawings - the plane practically tips on its side so you can take pictures form the plane!! After the plane ride we had some lunch then started the 6-8hours journey back to lima! This was a great day trip- long but definately worth it!! love me x
