hello!! well i arrived in lima sin problema and checked into my hostel which was nice but rather quiet but the guy that ran it was so lovely and helpful too. So i stayed in miraflores a nice area of lima as the centre can be a bit dodgy! So the next day i met up with fior (girl i met in NZ) and she took me around some of the areas and then took me for lunch at a peruvian place called Punta Sal where i tried Ceviche (fish slightly cooked in lemon with onion) and Inka Kola which tasted like bubblegum drink! So had a great time catching up with fior she took me to see her house it was amazing - so big!! So thanks fior for showing me around and for lunch!! The next few days i just hung around, saw some parts of miraflores before jo flying out. Went to airport to meet jo - quite different to see her with a backpack on! So headed back to hostel and pretty much crashed! Next day we did all the sites of miraflores like the catedral, larcomar (shopping/upper class area), the parks, the inka markets, and did a bus tour around all the rest. Also, i showed jo the best thing i had found in lima in the supermarket which was "fanny jam!" Whilst im talkin about the supermarket this place was great they give you so many free snacks as you walk around u could almost go there for dinner!! Did loads of walking so friggin tired by the end! It was so hot that jo managed to get rather sun burnt - doh!! That night we headed out for some food on "pizza street" as thats all we wanted. On friday we went into the centre of peru to see the cathedral, the changing of the guard, a monastery which had thousands and thousands of bones in it all arranged in pretty patterns - q disturbing really! Saw the plazas and the shops which were full of shoes. We headed back to larcomar and walked to the lighthouse and tried to walk to the park with the flowers whcih were in the same lines as the nazca lines but realized it was way too far! Instead we walked down the cliff face to the beach so jo could touch the pacific ocean for the first time which took a while as the waves were rather unpredictable! On saturday we moved into the other hotel as the beginning of our tour. We went for lunch at a peruvian place so jo could try ceviche and looked around at the shops in miraflores before having a welcome meeting and meeting the other people from our tour.
