Well I've been here in the cameron highlands for the past 4 days. Ok now I wanna clear something up here - on people's poscards I wrote cameroon not cameron now I do realise that I'm in Malayia and not Cameroon (at least I don't get confused beween cameroon and cambodia - mentionning no names - Emma!!!) Well it's really chilled here and loads of trekking trails to do. The 1st day we did bout 3 hr trek up past a waterfall and only got lost once - went with a belgium girl called kitty and a german guy called kai.
I did a trip the next day to the boh tea plantation which is actually owned by a scottish family - hey must be loaded! It was great learning all about the making of thier famous black tea. We also did a trek thru the mossy forest and learned about the dif plants and their medicinal usages - even leanrt how to kill someone with bamboo so it leaves no traces - so everyone better watch out! But that was good fun slipping and sliding along the narrow forest paths!
Yesterday 8 of us decided to do a trek - now u think with 8 of us we wouldn't get lost - think again. We went up 4 dif "paths" some of which we invented ourselves as couldn't read the map properly - the maps fault not ours!! But it was fun clambering thru the thick forest and over and thru lil streams - I was so muddy when I got back it was rather amusing. I managed not to slip over which I think is a miracle as it was so slippery and my shoes haven't got the best grip on them. After the 4th wrong turn we turned back but kitty and kai carried on for another 3 hrs while the rest of us went to get an indian!
The evenings are spent mainly in the large lounge where everyone watches movies and chills out. It's such a friendly hostel and the staff are really good. I was sharing a room with the belgium girl as quieter (well we thought) than the dorm but she went nuts and I mean crazy at the guys in the next door room as they were being noisy but she didnt really give them a chance to be quiet. They were on our tour the following day and I felt really embarrassed so i just avoided them!
Ok well tomo I head back to KL to get another bus to melaka - fun, fun, fun!
