We woke up at 8 to make sure we could get on the bikes at 9. Managed to actually head off at 9:20, so not too bad. Me on the back of a 125 manual and soph on the back of an automatic.
Drove for 10-20 mins out of hue before my guys bike broke down! Luckily we were near to a petrol station so stopped for a bit while they fixed it. Left and rode for a bit then stopped at a fishing village, crazy that huge (6+) families live on tiny little boats all their lives.
Rode on for a bit then stopped for breakfast: 2 noodle soups (pho) and a few beers, all for £1.50ish, so much cheaper and nicer than the uk motorway services!!
Rode for a while until we got to the elephant pools. Basically a river running over rocks that had formed pools which we swam in, lots of seating, food and drinks around for locals and tourists. Chilled there for a while, took some gopro footage of jumping off a rock into the pool and photos around the site.
From there continued south, headed up the road off top gear and stopped for a fantastic photo opportunity. Continued up the mountain to the pass at the top.
From the pass had an amazing view of da nang and the other side (I can't remember the name of the town the other side!). On pass was old American base with bunkers (riddled with bullet holes), and other army buildings.
Headed off from there to da nang, beautiful views all the way down to da nang. Next stop on china beach for a bit. Then onto hoi an. Arrived at the hostel, paid the remainder of the bill for the tour, then debated the tip.
Got into the room (from wills booking) and met Ollie and luke. Will and Beth arrived soon after.
Walked to the beach, which was way further than I had originally expected. And had a swim in the sea (not soph since she had just showered). Got a taxi back and headed out for dinner.
Wandered to the centre of hoi an (cycles and walking only), where will picked up his shoes. Had average dinner (boring fried noodles, I was jealous of wills noodle soup), then headed out for some drinks. Lots of places with fliers trying to draw us in (241 deals, free shisha etc..). Got a few drinks in one, but very expensive (over £1 per beer!) so looked at the night market then headed back.
S went back to the room to sort some Internet stuff. Beth, will and I stayed downstairs drinking, chatting and playing pool, was very nice. Eventually kicked out of the bar (2ish) and headed off to bed.
