Today has been a free day so it has been so great to have a break. It's warmer than what it has been so good to see blue skyes. We started the day wandering through the markets buying fruit for lunch and watching the french barter for the flowers and fresh produce. Then we walked up to the old chateau where we got magnificent views across Nice and the port and there was also a man made waterfall there, that wasn't that great.
After a long walk we met up with a mate Mark and the boys went for a swim in the beautiful blue while I laid on the stones watching them. Clouds came over so it was to cold for me, a woos I know!!.
That after noon we all got dressed up and court our bus to Monaco, it only took about half hour to 45 mins from Nice. It is the home of Ferrari and we were lucky enough to see a few. This is also where they hold a huge formula 1 race. Our first stop was the palace of the prince of Monaco, who has just recently got married but before the wedding his bride found out that he had just fathered a baby to a maid. She tried to get out of the wedding but they took her passport, hence they stayed in separate hotels for there honey moon. The princes family gained power many years ago by portraying the trust of the previous ruler. They dressed up as monks and in bad weather went to the kingdom asking to be shielded from the weather, as soon as they got let into the gates they pulled swards out and slayed the kingdom, therefore taking over as ruler. So not a very nice family back then and still not now.
Then we went to the famous Monaco casino. It is an amazing building from the outside, with all fancy cars parked out the front. It costs 10 euro to get in each, we only had an hour there so we didn't bother going in, we enjoyed a lovely dinner with Roz and Ben instead. The trip to Monaco was very rushed would have liked to spend a few hours there. Was still amazing to see how the other half live. Lots of houses on cliff sides with views of the ocean and mountains.
