Today was our last day in Australia and that meant one important thing. Boomerangs. We hadn’t found anywhere right to throw our boomerangs on our road trip so we had to finish all our packing then we went to the park in Murrumbeena to try them out. Today we spent most of the morning cleaning the van and all our things. We had to do several loads of washing but at least it was a sunny windy day, perfect for drying. I cleaned the inside of the van and worked the washing machine and Vincent cleaned down the outside with a cloth until it was, as it asked for in the book, cleaner than when we got it. Today we wanted to ‘do Canberra’. We had been reliably informed that you could in fact do it in one day, although I’m not sure that person had in mind that the day would include starting in Sydney and ending in Melbourne. We got to Canberra just in time for a lunch on the outskirts overlooking a large flat area that used to be a lake but has dried up creating the perfect place to fly model aircraft, or so the locals seemed to think. Today we made it as far as Manly. We had wanted to come here to have a night out as there were some interesting places with some good deals on food/booze combos and the free wireless internet pub. Today was another beach day. We watched many surfers falling off their boards and were out in the sun all morning reading and relaxing, but by lunch time we had decided that due to another swim making us all salty we would have to go for a shower.
