After a shower this morning we felt pretty good considering our half night on the bus and half in the hotel. So we set about finding out what there was in Kuala Lumpur. Basically the main thing seemed to be the Petronus towers, the twin towers that are connected by a sky bridge that used to be the tallest in the world. We decided to go once in the day and try to go on the sky bridge then once in the night to see them lit up. In the day they were pretty impressive and we took lots of photos from every angle. We went inside to try and find out how to get to the top, which you can’t, and to the bridge, which was fully booked. Inside the towers was an extremely exclusive shopping centre with all the biggest designer names, several restaurants including a ‘Chilli’s’ and a theatre hall. We considered watching the concert that was on in the evening but it wasn’t something I wanted to see or that Vincent knew so we decided to go back to the hotel and rest then to come back at night for the light show.
When we got back to the hotel we found that the street outside had been turned into the craziest load of market stalls all shouting and haggling and playing loud music. We wandered through for a bit and finally I found a pair of shorts that were funky and different!
The Petronus towers were certainly worth going to in the dark. They are lit up in the most stunning way with flood lights and lit fountains all round the base. Lots of people were there all dressed in their best clothes, obviously going to the concert. Again we took loads of photos and we lay on the grass to look up – but then realised we weren’t allowed to lie on the grass and narrowly missed being chucked out by security – oops!
