I feel like I'm due to write another entry, once a week is harder than I thought.
Our first weekend in London was amazing. We all went out to a club Fabric on Friday night and stayed until it was light out. Much different than any other American club, no popular American music (which is good) and much different styles of dancing. It was really fun.
Saturday morning we were supposed to meet at 10:45ish to go sightseeing. I, however, woke up at 10:50 after only a few hours of sleep. Since my group already had left, I had to find the way to Buckingham Palace on my own, which I surprised myself by actually doing after only a couple wrong turns. After talking on the phone with Northeasterners for 10 minutes trying to give me directions to where they were in the park, I finally found them. From there, we walked around London and took pictures in front of Big Ben, Parliament, and Westminister Abbey. We stumbled upon a world dance event in Trafalagar Square (I think?) which was so much fun to watch. Then we went to the Natural Gallery since it was right there. The Van Gogh paintings were amazing to see in person. That night, Katelyn took us to a burger place in Camdentown that is apparently the best burger place in all of London, which I completely agree. I had the most delicious veggie burger ever and everyone else enjoyed theirs as well.
Sunday, we were supposed to go on a double decker bus tour, but everyone was just way too lazy to do so. Sunday night I went out with Jess, Mike, and Jess' friends to the Rocket pub to watch the World Cup final. I was sad over Holland losing, but since Jess' friends were from Spain, they were ecstatic. The happiness was quite contagious after Spain won, so I didn't mind that much anymore.
This week has been all about school. I spend about 2 hours every day reading and 2 hours working on my marketing project, and then there are 4 hours of class every day. Its amazing how one class is taking up so much time, but its equivalent to 4 months of work squeezed into 3 weeks. It's really hard to keep up with all of the material and readings, and on top of that work on the project and case studies. I think I'm going to have to go to my professor's office hours or spend all of next week studying my ass off for the final because there are so many concepts that I've yet to understand. I wish everything would slow down, so I could have more time in London to enjoy it and also have more time to learn everything I have to for this marketing class.
Last night, 20 or so of us ventured to the Absolut Ice Bar. It was definitely an experience that had to be done since we are in London. We all got into the same session, even without reservations. Each group goes into the bar for 40 minute sessions. Right at the door of the actual Ice Bar, you get this huge parka with gloves attached. We all looked like eskimos and I loved it. It was still freezing in the bar despite the coat and gloves. Literally, everything was made of ice. Even our glasses. And the drinks were delicioussss. I wish they could make all of my drinks for me. At first I thought 40 minutes was such a short time to spend in the bar, but by that time I was freezing and ready to leave.
I know I have to write "2 pages a week" for this blog for Northeastern, but I have no idea what 2 pages is considered online. I hope this is sufficient.
Back to work, lecture in one hour!
