Hello!
After leaving the paradise that was Ko Tao on Tuesday we took a very choppy ferry ride over to the island of Ko Samui, still beautiful but much bigger than Ko Tao-they actually had roads here!
We stayed in another lovely beach bungalow on Big Buddha Beach in the north of the island and as the title of the beach gives away, it was here that I got to see my first big buddha!! ( I here that it loses the impact after you've seen several) It really was quite amazing to see though and the area was so peaceful and serene, unlike a lot of Ko Samui which we named 'Bangkok on the beach'or 'dog city' as Jen likes to call it. I feel like I'm travelling with Dr Dolittle!
After spending a few days exploring Ko Samui we got the mother of all bus journeys to Krabi on the West of Thailand. As we seemed to be travelling on a local bus (which I think must be the only bus that runs on Thailand) the journey took twice as long as we had been told. All I can say is that this was probably not the most fun day we've spent here!
We spent the evening wandering around the night markets in Krabi and getting a bit of yummy Thai food before trying to find where our hotel was for some sleep.
Yesterday we took our first long tail boat from Krabi to our new paradise, Railay. It is stunning! Although we are still on the mainland, it feels like we are on another little island as it is seperated by tall limestone cliffs and can only be accessed by boat.
As with most of our time spent here I can't write a big action packed account of our day, yesterday was really just spent exploring our resort and exploring the beaches which is really enough work for me! Last night however was a different story. We went out for a tasty Indian meal at a local restaurant where halfway through our meals a lovely Thai grandma (that we had read so much about) brought us some popcorn and grinned, why not! After our meals, we checked out a cool little bar playing some live music for what we though would we one drink. This however was not the case and after a long night of drinking (out of buckets!!), dancing, bongoes and tamborines, resulted in me getting my ring sawn off at the local rock climbing centre this morning. Fun times!!
So, after all that craziness we have had a very relaxing day on the beach, what else!
