Hello from Alice Springs!!

We arrived into Alice Springs this morning after getting up at the un-godly hour of 4 in the morning for our flight!! Im going to need a holiday after this trip! I can't really write a blog from here though as we've not really done anything yet. Dont be fooled by the picture, we haven't seen Ayres Rock yet but we will tomorrow!! So excited! Alice Springs is actually weirdly quiet, especially compared to Sydney and Melbourne where we've come from.

We flew from Sydney to Melbourne on Sunday so we've only actually spent two days in Melbourne so far. We are going back for a couple of days though after our Ayres Rock trip. And not that I am wishing this trip away but we are very excited to return to Melbourne as we have booked on to the Neighbours tour!! I cannot wait (yes, I really am that sad!) We're trying not to get our hopre up about who we'll see as it could be anyone but 'come on Susan Kennedy!'

Anyway, the two days we did stay in Melbourne were really nice. Even after the flight being slightly delayed as there had been a storm, the weather was lovely! Our hostel was really nice too and was located very conveniently above an Irish pub! Bonus! It was a brand new hostel and had only been open a week. Our beds had never been slept in before which felt so good!

Melbourne is famous for its shopping and cafes so thats pretty much what we spent our time doing. There were so many cool vintage shops, I could have spent a fortune but as I do not have to money or the space in my rucksack I restrained myself!

The Melbourne Cup was also starting today, which they have a public holiday for. I've never seen such a big deal made over a horse race!! Anyway, they city was buzzing so it was quite a nice atmosphere. We watched a parade yesterday for the Melbourne Cup where we saw Olivia Newton John!!! How exciting! We wanted to start singing a Grease Medley but luckily stopped ourselves. Ooo we saw Jeff Banks too! It seems I can't get away from work!

Well thats enough for now. I know I will have lots to write about after our trip to Ayres Rock tomorrow.
