Hi guys,
Arrived in bangkok, some how got on the right bus to khaosan road, where we then had to find our hotel, tourists and backpackers everywhere, for every back packer there is a tuk tuk.
1st night we lived it up staying in a 5 star hotel, which was soon to change!
Grabbed some tea from a street vendor, chicken and veg stir fry with noodles very expensive, all of 2 quid, Ha ha. We sat in the street eating and people watching.
Next morning we were up and out bright and early to check out bangkok, first stop boat station, we got a express boat to grand palace which is the main tourist attraction it's a massive temple and loads of others surrounding it. It was so humid and yet we had to cover up to respect the locals and there religion.
Went to one of bangkoks shopping centres on a sky train to avoid traffic which is horrendous, smog city! oh and to avoid being pestered by tuk tuk drivers and taxis that don't leave you alone.
We then headed back to chaophraya river and went on a boat tour along side the city. which was refreshing to get away from the city's hussel and bussel.
In the evening we made a trip to the banyan tree, (according to tina a trip not to be missed) Very posh, we obviously fitted in well! The view from the bar in this hotel was amazing, we could see right across bangkok. we decided to sit and enjoy a cocktail, just the one, as the prices aren't what we have now adjusted too, after this we returned to our cheaper hostel, shattered as we had, had a long 48 hours.
Up next day 6.30am - pick up 7am to take us to a floating market which was an hour and a half bus journey outside bangkok. This was defiantely an experience, not many floating markets in England. We hired a long tail boat to taxi us around the canal, this was haggle heaven. Watch out asda on our return, were going to be haggling.
On route home we stopped off at some snake farm, horrible big snakes, zero interest, then we stopped at a wood craft making centre. impressive to know how long it take's to engrave patterns on to our furniture.
On our return we went to khaosan rd market, to have a noisy around then, it was a case of quick shower and off to bangkok train station, where we departed on a sleeper train to Chaing Mai. (12hour trip) we slept in bunk beds on a moving train, again it was an experience.
Next up date after Chiang Mai x
