Day 1
Arrived in Noosa at midday and checked into our hostel, after grabbing lunch from the bakery and chillin on the beach we did some shopping before hiking over the hill to the supermarket to get some grub in for the next few days. After some free wine from the introductory meeting, we met up with the Irish girls (who we met in Thailand and Aus) for a few drinks in the Irish bar
Day 2
Hired some surf boards today and spent the day teachin oursleves how to surf on the beach. We were actually quite good in comparision to the surf class that was going on next to us. Both managed to stand up and catch a few waves! After tea we took advantage of a 'buy one get one free' voucher for some cookies and cream ice cream! yum yum.
Day 3
As there is a Triathlon going on in Noosa over the weekend the small town was packed out with people and some fit athletes! We decided to get involved and signed oursleves up for a 5km fun run to raise money for breast cancer. After registering and paying at 6.30am we set off at 7.30 - steep hills and beach running was a bit of a shock to our systems that are only use to morning plods, however we completed the run in 24 minutes and reckon we came in the top 50 out of approx 1000 runners. Got supplied some free breakfast for taking part in the run and then went walking in the National park. Found a beach called Alexandra bay in which there was some more nudist bathers (they just seem to follow us around!), went in the waves which were massive and very good fun. Next we walked to Sunshine beach, which is at the opposite end of Noosa to where we are staying, to watch some impressive surfers riding some dangerous waves. Got the bus back to our hostel (too far to walk) and then watched the 1km swim in the sea, we nearly registered ourselves for this but it was a little to expensive for our backpackers budget - thankgod we didnt as professional swimmers turned up to participate and think we would have needed rescuing in the choppy sea. Whilst cooking tea got a call from Crista!! woohhoo was so good to chat to her. After tea we headed down to the beach to watch the firework display.
Day 3
Got an all day ferry pass up and down the Noosa river, stopped off at Tewantin which is a marina town - apparantly 'no tourists allowed' area. Also stopped off at Nossaville and Noosa sounds. Once back at Noosa heads (where we are staying) we watched a footy legends mini triathlon along with a male and female bike race in which the winner received 5000 dollars! Got back on the ferry at 6pm with our bottle of malibu to sail down the river and watch the sunset which unfortunatly was behind the clouds. Nice evening never the less. Nicky went to watch Man U with the Irish girls whilst Charlotte read a girly magazine!
Day 4
Triathlon day! Got up at 6.30am and watched the triathlon - unbelievable what these athletes are capable of and also how good some male bodies can look - it made us feel very unfit! For the rest of the day we rented body boards but as it was cloudy they didnt get used and also avoided the sea as a few rescue operations were needed due to high currents and poor korean swimmers! It made for good entertainment from the beach! Partied in the evening at the triathlon after party and had to shower once we were back at the hostel due to alot of sweat from the dancing!
Day 5
After one of our morning runs we hired surf boards again and spent the day in the waves. Some of them were massive and a bit scary - had a few crashes including knocking each other off (the sea just isnt big enough for the both of us!). Our surfing has definatly improved and we are now learning to turn on the waves (who needs to pay for lessons!). Tomorrow we are heading off to Brisbane. Will update soon. x
