A short overnight stop and i was heading to the airport, next stop Albury New South Wales. This is where Nathan Honeyman lives, he was a rugby coach at St Columbas junior school and met him when i did some help coaching over there for D of E. He also played for OV's although not when either myself or Joe played there, well on a regular basis anyway. The reason for coming a little bit out my way to see him, of course to see a friendly face out here but also having the potential opportunity of a rugby match as well.
On thursday i had a relaxing day, making up earlier than i would of liked, but at about 7 30 am i thought i wouldnt bother trying to get back to sleep and to come online to see if anyone was online... not much success! whats happening people? when do you guys go online these days? I relaxed just watching tv, enjoying not having to rush around. I then strolled into town to see his Girlfriend who has been a LEGEND helping me sort out all my flights and stuff. I of course also needed a gum shield and had a very tasty lunch at an 'english' pub. Although was a bit depressing reading about whats been happening back home, more special forces killed, someone fined for getting out the way of police car and something else... not really missing alot back home!
That evening though something iv been looking forward to for a while although very nervous, rugby training. My first proper rugby session in 8 months after breaking my leg. I didnt think id be anywhere near the pace but i surprised myself. Im a lot fitter than i gave myself credit for. Was nice as well that we were doing defensive training have some tackling practice, i was strong as ever on the tackling front which filled me with confidence. His original plan was for me to play for the 3rd team a nice taster standard to get me back into it then maybe bringing me on for last 10 mins or something for second team, second team being slightly higher standard than back home. He has now registered me with the club so i can take more part in the second team, i guess i did pretty good in training :)
On friday i actually wasnt feeling too bad, slightly aching and stiffer as the day went on but only really slightly in the shoulder and my legs know they got worked, but feeling pretty good and looking forward to tomorrow. I headed to local towns with Nath's Sister and brother in law where we went to a couple of breweries and wineries and had lunch at a place claiming to have 'the nicets pies in australia' they were pretty good pies to be fair. I decided to taste kangaroo as well, which was infact very tasty!
Match report will follow tomorrow... if i survive!
