We JUST made it to London and it is almost 1am so we will make it a very short entry- we need some sleep before our all-day long tour tomorrow of London. We had a short lay-over in Chicago (after a long delay in Detroit due to snow) and had our last taste of 'real' american food at McD's. The flight went REALLY well- to our surprise the flight was only half-full so we could spread out and we had our own TV so we watched Juno, August Rush, and a little bit of the Office. Heathrow was a really large airport- but mostly empty because we landed at 10:15pm. Then we had the experience of riding the Underground Rail (Tube-Thingy). It took a long time (an hr or so) to take to our hostel stop at Russel Square. It reminded us of riding the UM bus in the dark... not much going on there :) The people in London have cute accents. We got to our hostel the Generator and well... it is also an experience. Our bunks are directly above a dance floor- so lets hope for some Zzzs. Also, we are both wishing we brought a lot less(Nick especially wishes Kristen had brought much less) and feel like people are looking at us like you crazy Americans... so after carrying our 70 lbs up and down stairs (and into a window?) we are considering a locker for some of our things. You will have to see the pics of this hostel- it is like a run-down dorm but has a bar/club, we will check it out tomorrow night. We are here for 2 nights before we meet up with the rest of our Contiki crew at a H-O-T-E-L.
Tomorrow we are doing the double-decker Big Bus Tour of London and have to wake up at 7am (3am in Michigan). But, most importantly we are both happy, healthy, and proud we made it here without losing anything/anyone. We will write again soon!
