AMSTERDAM- AGE Contiki calls it :/
We stopped first at the Cheese and Clogs place in a town outside of Amerstam (Edam) where we saw those 2 demos and piled 19 contiki people into one large clog! We also saw that much of the Netherlands is green grass fields with sheep and small rivers.
That night- we went into the main part of Amsterdam (down the street with all the souveneirs) and into the Red Light District. Nick and I quickly toured it with the group- but prostitution and drugs are definitely not our thing... so when the rest of the group went to a LIVE Sex Show (ya... they did) we went back to the shops and toured the non-red light district. We got huge things of French Fries and I had mine with Ketchup and Mayo (what they are known for) yummmm.... We felt like the Netherlands are beautiful, but the Red Light casts a horrible shadow on the rest of the country (you never know who might be high walking around).
The next morning we went back to Edam and rode bikes from "Bike-a-Dijk" b/c the dutch and especially in Amsterdam is known for bikes! Such a cute little town with a windmill and bridges and canals- o how i miss it. We then went back into the main Amsterdam and walked right to the Anne Frank House. What another amazing experience to walk the floors she so despritely tried to not get caught walking around on. We walked through the door/book case and through Anne's room and her parent's- all left empty- how the Nazi's left it. By far the best thing in Amsterdam. We walked past the bridges and canals to the tulip market.
This was our last night together before heading back to London. We went to a small fishing village bordering Amsterdam and had the best fish dinner ever (it tasting like fine chicken!). We then went back into Amsterdam and took a half inside, half outside river cruise- it was our good-bye cruise. We sang our day song and took TONS of pics. After we went to some bar, but Nick and I were so tired we left shortly after.
