Hey people. All the pics from Saigon and today from Phnom Penh are going up in like an hour.
So my last day in Saigon, after a big night out (where I took no pictures for once) I slept in for a while obviously then went to the War Remnants Museum. It was mainly pictures, but some were shocking. Just Agent Orange Victims, Napalm Victims, and the American troops mistreating civilians.
One picture particularly got to me. It was of a family with 2 children crying and looking terrified. The caption was my the person who took the picture. He said: "These people were about to be shot when I shouted "Hold It" and took my picture. I turned and walked away. I heard gunshots, but could not bring myself to look".
There were quite a few horrific pictures which I've taken a picture of and should upload them soon.
Got the bus to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, and me and Alex are staying in the backpacker district on the lake. Quite cool, lots of shops, bars, resturatns, travel agencies and guesthouses. All you need.
Cambodia is good for iPod's...I bought 16 albums (full and good quality) and got 1 free...for $12 USD. 6 quid. Not bad.
Had a few quiet drinks tonight. Met some girls Alex had met on the bus and walked them home down some dark alleyu (by dark I mean pitch black) so we are going out tonight.
Spent all day with a tuk-tuk driver. Started by seeing for senseless killing. Went to the Shooting Range first though. I paid to fire2 rounds of an AK-47. Was quite an experience as I've never fired a gun.
Then went to the killing fields where hundreds of thousands of people were murdered under the Khmer Rouge rule. There were the sites of mass graves, and there was a building in the centre filled with skulls that were excavated. Close to 9000 skulls. Shocking.
Then to the Museum about the killings. We saw the cells and pictures of torture that people endured. TYhey have photographs of many many victims. Many were women and children of such a young age it was heartbreaking to see their faces because it made it so much more real. Being in a room with hundreds of photo's of people you know were murdered here.
Then cheered up a bit and headed to the Russian Market...it's just a damned market but I bought a new ring.
Then to the Royal Palace which has some magnificent architexture - As impressive as the temples in Japan but there are so many in one place.
Cambodia is really cool. I like it a lot - but you can't walk down the street without being offered weed or opium. and many resturants offer to make your pizza's "happy" for an extra $1.50...Haha.
So thats it for now. Will try get the pics up now.
