Surprise! We decided to detour and go to MEXICO! Arrived in Playa del Carmen, a beautiful coastal town, after 30 hours of flying and transits! Walked "5th avenue" which is Playas equivalent to "Bangla Road Phuket" (When u shop the store owners use lines like" let me clean out your wallet") and had fajita nachos and bucket of Sols beer for dinner. The next day was entirely spent at Playa beach! Its very beautiful with very clear blue water and soft white sand! Ate at a local Mexican restaurant for dinner- very cheap! Tuesday started tour at 7.30am! Saw a mayan town and swam in Cenote Cave (it's used in the movie Apocolypto). Buffet lunch and then we arrived at our main destination Chitchen Itza (one of the new 7 wonders of the world.) The history behind that place is amazing! Jack just couldn't believe it! Wednesday beaches it again and sports bar for NBA! Paces vs Magic!Jack goes for Magic, Nic goes for Pacers and they won! Got very drunk! Thursday took ferry to Isla Cozumel! Stayed at a hostel that was the equivelant to a beautiful beach house! So peaceful and relaxing, very different to the hostels we have previously stayed at! Friday took a scooter to the east side to check out beaches. Hung out at Paradise beach with sun lounges and umbrella and pool!! Snorkelled a couple times and met some raccoons at the pier. Ate a local Mexican dish for dinner! Saturday watched Liverpool in the FA cup final at Woodys then last swim at the local beach near our hostel! Watched the boxing fight Cotto vs Mayweather at Woodys (again) with Blake, Dorothy and Daniel from Chicago!
Sunday we took a ferry and then bus to our final Mexican destination, Cancun! Went to some beaches that had perfectly blue water with very white sand (and jacko even found 13 pesos in the actual beach water.) Dinner was included at hostel (homemade mexican food) but we couldn't refuse to eat an afternoon snack at the local hot spot! Mexican food is DEFINETLY our weakness! And you should see our tans from all the hard work we have done lying at all the beaches! The three places we visited in Mexico are totally touristy and completely safe! We saw amazing things here and fell in love with this country! Monday 4 am wake up to start our journey to ... Vegas!
