Up at 4.18am after our alarm didnt go off and the taxi was going to be out the front in 12mins and we hadnt finished packing! It must be said at this point that nicole did a great job organising everything to leave for the amazon! With no word of a lie Jack did not leave the bed the day before! One massive night previous with Tom n Jose got the better of him! Long island ice teas in Bolivia are extremely dangerous!
Our flight left at 6.15 and our tour started at 8.30 in Rurranbaque. The flight was amazing itself, 20 seat plane over some amazing scenary. The tour once started included a 3.5hr jeep into the wetlands of the amazon and a 3.5hr canoe trip up the yacuma river, within 30secs of being on the water we already had a pink river dolphin swimming with us. We managed to swim with the dolphins on the first day, ok maybe nik was a little scared, it was just jack! After constant promises from the guide that no crocs were around because dolphins were so territorial jack jumped in. We stayed two nights in a lodge on the river, that 1st night we went looking for crocs and watched the sunset. Day 2 included piranha fishing, looking for an anaconda!! Although unsuccesful in last nights croc sightings we managed to see some in the middle of the river on day2! But hang on there is a dolphin aswell, not too confident on this whole no crocs idea now. Day 3 and our last day on the tour we woke to some pouring rain, and what do you know at the foot of the tree we have been jumping out of for two days is a 3m croc! But we showed trust in our guide Jamie and we went and swam with more dolphins, nik included! It was amazing the dolphins would flick there tails at us playing with us, well thats what jamie said! We even managed to see an anaconda on the way home which eluded us on day 2. All in all it was a fantastic trip and we were lucky with the diversity of wildlife we seen. We finished with a night out in Rurranbaque before our flight back the next day.
