Battleship grey skies greeted us along the route to the town of 1770, birthplace of Queensland. Unintentionally it seemed that we'd left behind the sun, but the weather was the least of my worries on our journey.
We were in the company of one of the louder Oz Experience drivers, 'Thunder'. He was slightly mental with a habit of using the F word every other word. However, he was a great laugh and even organised a bus BBQ for when we arrived. BBQ lead to drinks which then resulted in the hundred and one drinking games/rules coming into play. I can safely say the night was a great start to our time here.
The next morning I awoke to blazing sunshine and Thunders notorious 7:30am wake up goodbye alarm... Cheers mate! It wasn't the worst thing to happen though as we got up and out early to enjoy the rays on yet another beautiful beach. The weather did take a turn for the worse as the day went on and we were forced back to the hostel for an old school hour or two playing board games (I even won the monopoly!). There's not a huge amount of activities to do in the town of 1770, or well none that really fit our budget, so we spent plenty of time relaxing and socialising with other people.
The next day I awoke and went for a run along the beach in an attempt to lose some of the extra baggage I'd acquired in our months of travelling - my legs now hate me! After the stormy weather we had the previous evening the sun was blazing and the sky empty of any clouds. Another day at the beach was on the cards followed by a scrumptious meal courtesy of the local butcher. That's one thing about Aus and NZ that I love, the local produce is fed at cheaper prices than the stuff you find in supermarkets, just how it should be!
And speaking of local produce, it was time to move onto our 2nd overnight stop as part of the Oz Experience; the cattle station!
