With Nick feeling abit better we had breakfast at the hotel (Nick had good old dry toast!) and then decided to go to the beach. We wanted to go to long beach and to get there you have to get a long tail taxi boat - they have a set rate of 100 Baht per person to get there.
Jumped into the boat but were then quite worried as the guy had some mechanical difficulties!! You have to paddle/drift near the pier which was all fine but the engine wouldn't start when we were further out - a little worrying!! Whilst he tried to fix it Nick & I were admiring the views - the sea was completly clear - could see right to the sand on the bottom. Was such a gorgeous day too, blue sky and hot sun!!
The boat driver eventually got his boat (named Garfield!!) going, thank god and we were off. It isn't far to Long Beach but you can't walk there because of jungle areas etc.
When we got there we couldn't believe how beautiful it was, white sand with clear sea and palm trees and our view was Phi Phi Leh. We borrowed beach towels from the hotel so set our pitch on the sand. After sunbathing until our suncream soaked in & taking some photos we went in the sea to cool off - even Nick went in the sea!!
We were in there for ages (reflection off the sea has made our cheeks abit rosey lol). We saw fish swimming round our legs, some were tropical fish, lots of colours!
When we got out of the sea Nick bought us some water and a banana each - nicest banana ever, odd shape though!! More suncream and sunbathing before again heading to the sea to cool off. Nicks tum begun to hurt him again so we got another taxi boat back to the pier & when we got to the hotel we headed for the pool for a while before upstairs for showers - a few tan/burn lines have appeared!!
Went for dinner before waling around the shops and stalls. Have found that people in Phi Phi are not as keen to barter - we can get 20-50 Baht off the price but that is about it. We each got a bracelet and I also got a short sarong, like a beach skirt thing. Still very warm outside, at dinner we sat outside on raised decking over the beach - beautiful setting with all the pier lit up with fairy lights - going to miss Phi Phi when we leave for Ao Nang tomorrow.
