Waking up with a slight headache after the "Welcome to Sucre" beers the night before, the agenda for the day involved dinosaurs.
There is a picturesque (ahem) cement quarry just outside the town. Whilst quarrying for whatever it is they quarry for they hit on an unusable seam and stopped. Over time the sheer cliff face they had left was eroded and revealed a huge number of dinosaur footprints preserved in the rock. It is an absolutely amazing sight, the trails of dozens of dinosaurs are clearly visible. The guide explains which dinosaurs left which tracks. Apparently these all come from one day's activity. Difficulties in preserving the rock face mean several sections have collapsed, but in fact that simply reveals another layer of footprints from a different point in time. Our very informative and interesting guide looked just like Gaby from Desperate Housewives.
Due to the collapses you can only view the cliff from a viewing platform a couple of hundred meters away, but they are still easy to see. As the current visitor centre will collapse within 3 years (it was only built a few years ago, way to go surveyors!), they are working on a replacement and visitors will be able to get much closer to the prints in the very near future.
The rest of the day was spent chilling out in town and climbing up to a viewpoint bar to catch sunset over the white brick city centre.
A yearning for pasta led us to a first floor restaurant over the main square, which in turn led me to spend the next day in bed with an upset stomach. Spaghetti carbonara = spaghetti in thousand island sauce and raw bacon fat. Marvellous.
