From Phi Phi, We caught what we thought was the ferry to Ao Nang only to arrive at Krabi which caused some complications into getting to our destination, Railay Beach. Luckily, Krabi was not that far away but we had to get a taxi then a long tail boat.
Approaching Railay, it was easy to see why backpackers flock here. There were miles of fairy tale limestone crags towering above everything - obviously, Railay is described as a climbers haven.
We managed to find accomodation at Diamond Cave Resort, funnily enough it was the very same place Nick and Fergus stayed in 10 years ago. Our room was clean and spacious with a hot water shower. We spent the evening watching the sun set which was ethereal, eating and ending the night watching a fire show on the beach which was amazing.
The next day was spent sunbathing at Nicks favourite beach, Hat Tham Phra Nang which was a beautiful strip of white sand framed by cliffs. We went into the sea a couple of times but we had to come out due to either stinging plankton or jellyfish. When we returned to our hostel Nick noticed that the curtains had been opened while we were out so we checked our immediate belongings and found everything to be intact.
We went for dinner as normal and on our return we packed our bags as we had a morning ferry, it was then that Helen noticed that £120 worth of Thai money had been stolen. We raised this with the resort and quite frankly, they did not give a sh*t. Unfortunately we cannot claim on the insurance as the money was not locked away in a safe so, it's safe to say a lesson has been learnt. The main thing is that we are both safe!
Helen was glad to leave Railay for Ko Lanta.
(p.s sorry for the swearing!)
