Hereon we headed off to Tengboche at 3860m. A lovely trek was had in the morning with its gradual inclines but mostly flat and downhill which suited us both. It was becoming harder to keep our breath due to the thin air. The afternoon, however was a different story - it killed us but nowhere near as bad as day 2. We gained 400m which also means 400m closer to Everest Base Camp (we gained 800m on day 2, just for comparison purposes!). We visited the local monastery and I committed a sin by rolling the prayer wheels the wrong way round and was told off by the local monk. Oops.
We also beat the maps guidance of 5.5 hours and did it in 5 hours which was a massive achievement considering we had not done any training and Helen was still feeling iffy at this point.
