Our third week in California marked a visit to Walnut Creek, Sarah & Rey's old stomping ground. After dropping Sarah off for work we headed to Berkeley where we wandered around the University of California like we were students, it was freshers week so we had loads of people trying to coerce us into social clubs etc. (made us feel young!) We did some shopping in Berkeley before doing some more in Walnut Creek. (We last visited Walnut Creek 6 years ago!!!! Where has the time gone?)
The evening was spent at Sarah's friends Ron and Uni's house, Vic came and joined us. We've not seen him since Sarah and Rey's wedding so it was good to catch up with him. As Uni is a dental hygienist she couldn't wait to look into our mouths so, we both let her clean our teeth! It took her over an hour to clean Nicks teeth but 15 minutes to do Helen's. Not sure if it's because Helen was being a wimp or her teeth were cleaner than Nicks!
Our last day in NorCal marked a visit to Sausalito, right by the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately, it was smoggy so we didn't really get good views so we took some brunch before driving through San Fran to Palo Alto to meet Sarah and her work colleagues for lunch before tackling the long drive back to Los Angeles.
After a good nights sleep, we headed to the Angel's stadium to watch them take on the Seattle Mariners....this was Helen's first ever baseball game so shes now an Angel's fan whereas Nick's an Oakland Athletics fan! Seattle well and truly beat the Angels...and we were leading to start off with! Bummer! Sarah joined us for the last few innings, we headed home to relax before Nick picked up Ryan from LAX.
The weekend was spent at Disneyland, watching the Ryder Cup, playing Scattergories which Rey won even though the girls were completely sober and the guys were completely intoxicated! Sunday marked Nicks 31st birthday and we spent the day watching the Ryder Cup. Apparently, he wouldn't have it any other way! The evening was spent eating traditional Irish grub at an Irish pub, unfortunately Nick forgot his I.D so couldn't have a celebratory pint!
On Monday, we finally hit Hollywood...in a sparkly red mercedes sporty number...We parked the car and went for a wander up the walk of fame, took a glance at Graumann's Chinese Theatre and compared the size of our handprints/footprints with several famous people. We walked up to a mall where we could see the 'Hollywood' sign and took the compulsory touristy photos. We hopped back in the car and headed for Beverley Hills taking a detour around some of the residential areas and we were overwhelmed by some of the houses we saw! Some people do just have money!!!! Rodeo Drive was next on our list so we drove down Rodeo Drive slowly hoping to spot some celebrities...epic fail!
After seeing the Beverley Wiltshire...we headed back home!
