Two states of the mainland to go and we will do both of those tomorrow. We are currently heading north east out of ceduna SA and will find ourselves somewhere between Port Augusta and the Victorian border... The battle is now over with our zipper issues... This morning the zipper head had enough and came off its runners which was a relief in some way as we don't have to struggle with it again so we have got the ratchet straps onto it and do far so good!
So the trip from Perth to kalgoorlie was a great day... The scenery was beautiful and before long we were back into the outback! We also managed to listen to the AFL final the whole way (up the swannies).... Gotta love AM radio. We had 2 nights in kalgoorlie and the main purpose of the 2nd night was to watch the NRL GF and surprisingly enough the Irish pub in town was playing it on the big screen!
We were then on the road again.. What would be a couple of looonnngg days on the nullarbor... Listening to some awesome Aussie country music such as john Williamson, kasey chambers, adam brand... Just to name a few.
The nullarbor was a straight road with similar scenery but towards the end when there is the southern ocean on the right and outback on the left is a pretty awesome sight! Not to mention photo opportunity number 1 which is closest to SA border was spectacular!! We discussed what the early explorers would have thought coming along the track and finding a cliff that went straight down to the ocean and wondering how many stock have been lost from going that little bit too close! It was a place to get the good camera out to take some happy snaps!
After 2 8hr days we made it to the boarder and then a couple more rolled into the last spot left in the caravan park at ceduna. We spent 2 nights here and took a day trip down to streaky bay... Now for those who are oyster fans apparently streaky bay is the home of the oyster... And do u think we could find anywhere that sold them??? Nope... Clint was mortified! We did have a nice lunch down there though at the pub over looking the jetty.
So tomorrow we will get to cross both the Victorian and NSW boarder... Sort of makes me feel that our trip is almost over... But we still have 4 weeks to go so keep an eye on us!
