Having mobile phone access is a treat these days... Nice to catch up with what's happening in the world of Facebook although I dont really miss it... Those who know me tho understand that I am a keen facey user and every opportunity to jump on is taken. So now that I've caught up on what you are doing here is an insight on our last few days. We left isa Saturday and headed north to a beautiful place called Adel's grove... The drive tested out the dust proofing of the camper... And it actually held up quite well. We pulled into Adel's grove camping ground at around 4pm set up showered sat and relaxed. The scenery of this place was different to anywhere I've seen... We were amongst a mixture of palm and gum trees with an aqua coloured creek running through inhibiting fresh water crocs (not that we saw any though). Originally we were just going to stick to the hwy but as you do when u stay at camping spots we spoke to different people who gave us some places to go and do many said Adel's grove, and glad we did! We stayed for two nights so it gave us some time to explore and head to the gorge. The mountain climb was so worth the view. From Adel's we headed out on another dusty track towards kingfisher camp it was driving on a public road that would have been used as a stock route back in the day. I think I opened a thousand gates on this trip and the day just was do slow... We did 8hrs in the car and the last 4 were corregation central... We finally found our destination which was high up in the gulf savannah at a river crossing called Robinson river... Salt water croc infested so we found a spot up the top of the hill just before the crossing to ensure the croc doesn't take my baby ;) ... We got in late and wanted to get out early so bed wasn't far off.
The next day was the day of the boarder crossing but as it turned out the road conditions made things very slow and a 5 hr trip became a 7.5hr trip but we made it to a mad little pub called Daly waters... What an awesome spot the place had a caravan park beside the pub, an outback jewelry store (totally overpriced and no diamonds.. Lol). The pub is famous for its beef and barra feed so we opted for a night off cooking... Really we couldn't resist! The pub also has entertainment every night and it was awesome...singers, comedians and the pubs collection of random things was enough to keep u there for hours! The beef and barra was one of the best meals I have eaten. The barra is local and the beef was a scotch fillet cooked to perfection, a variety of salads accompanied the meat and in true grose style we filled our plates and devoured every little bit! After a great feed and way too many beers we stumbled back to our camper with the thoughts of returning another time in the not to distant future... Maybe even a new years gig!
Today we were back on the road but fortunately only for 170km up the road to mataranka we pulled into or shady dusty camping spot (both wondering when we will see a grassy camping spot) set up had lunch and headed for the famous 32 degree crystal clear natural springs that was just what was required to relax us even more (haha)... One night here then off to katherine tomorrow to get supplies to get us to the WA boarder and out the victoria hwy towards timber creek! Paddy has been a great little traveller in the car especially those long days of driving but at the destination after being cooped up all day lets us know he is a typical boy into everything u don't want him in and displaying his stubborn and pig headed self... Sometimes I wonder where he gets it from! Lol
