Well Hells Gate certainly lived up to its name!! We arrived on Saturday night to the staff accommodation in the middle of bleddin nowhere land. I have to say it was stunning, mountains all around us and if you wanna picture it think ?Rambo? ? that?s where it was filmed.
We ended up in this random room with two boys as they had not sorted our rooms out yet ? but next day I made sure we got our own room. People there cool but bit worrying that 6 (out of 8) had handed in their notice. We spent a few days there ? and it is stunning ? our back garden was a flippin mountain cliff and we all sat out there at night with a bonfire getting pissed (as that?s the only thing to do) ? the other people were really cool.
Anyway when the day comes to work yesterday we realize we can?t spend 4 months here ? literally you have staff accommodation (2 shacks and a washing machine room) then 30 minutes walk (on the highway may I add) you have the attraction ? so Katy does the dirty work and phones up to tell them. So last night they come round and EVICT us!! So this morning we had to leave at 8am and get a bus back to Vancouver. They also decided to kick out the 6 people who had handed in there notices a few days before as they thought it was there fault we were leaving.
Needless to say ? seeing as they caught a bear a few days before we got there outside the house/shack and the only chance to buy food was on a Thursday when the boss drove you 40min to the nearest supermarket were pretty glad to be back in Vancouver!!! I think the point when I suggested a jog (and then actually went) was when Katy knew I had to get out of there (well hurting today will never do such a silly thing again).
So now we gotta start from scratch!!!! find somewhere to live (currently in a hostel) and a job!! But its all good ? sometimes you have to take a risk. We might not find a great job here but when the other one was pretty much guanteed to damage my mental health I think I will take my chances.
